Through adding a vehicle’s height above the road surface as a further input dimension, this system will be able to recognize the height-profile of each vehicle. Depending upon the resolution, the system will be able to identify typical characteristics and distinguish between lorries, trailers, buses etc.
A prototype has been developed that can classify into 12 different categories.
