Exceeding the speed limit is probably the most common law violation in traffic worldwide. Speed limits are normally set in accordance with the condition of the road, traffic volume and sensitive areas, such as school zones and residential areas.
Average speed enforcement - a complement to spot speed enforcement
Our section control enforcement system, the Section Control Safety System (SCSS), has the advantage of enforcing a longer stretch of road (point to point or travel time enforcement). This type of measurement is based on the distance-over-time principle.
SENSYS®' section control enforcement system is applicable in multiple areas, such as tunnels, freeways and bridges. Our SCSS is totally non-intrusive. No inductive loops or similar need to be buried in the road surface – thus minimizing installation and maintenance costs.
The SCSS system may be configured to use one camera for each lane or one camera per two lanes, and includes one identification point at the start of the road stretch and one identification point at the end of the road stretch to be monitored. The time and vehicle registration number (npr / anpr) are recorded at the first identification point. The same then happens at the second identification point and the average speed is calculated.
